Madelyn L. Johnson, 82, of Punta Gorda, Fl passed away peacefully on October 2, 2016. She was the daughter of Paul and Esther Nicely, born May 24, 1934 in Latrobe, PA. Madelyn and her husband, Donald D Johnson and 3 children moved to Atlanta, GA in 1972. After moving several times, they retired to Punta Gorda. A devoted wife and mother; she was also active with the American Legion Auxiliary and the VFW Auxiliary for many years. She loved talking and laughing with her friends at the American Legion. Madelyn loved her family sitting around the table playing cards, telling stories and laughing. She is survived by her son, Jim (Patricia) Johnson of Lawrenceville, GA; daughter, Kim (Roy) Hill of Punta Gorda, FL; grandchildren, Crystal White, Ashley Freedman, Steven & Scott Bell, Jimmy Johnson, Phoebe Saylors and her namesake, Maddy Johnson and 7 great grandchildren. Madelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Donald D. Johnson and eldest son, Donald D. Johnson Jr. As per her request, a party will be held in honor of her life at the American Legion Post 103 on November 13, 2016 at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Legion Auxiliary or any veteran's organization.
