Louis H. Jonasz

October 28, 1939 — May 27, 2013

Louis "Lou" Hubert Jonasz, 73, of Osborne Island, New Jersey and Punta Gorda, FL passed away peacefully on Monday, May 27, 2013 at Charlotte Regional Medical Center, Punta Gorda, FL where his children, devoted wife, Pearl and friends were able to go to his side to relive precious memories of good times shared before saying their final words of farewell. Lou lived in Yeadon, PA., until his 17th birthday when the family moved to Hollywood, FL. He was a star high school basketball player and graduated from Broward High in 1958. Lou began each day with fresh pressed clothes and a great big smile and was the walking definition of a hard working man. He began his career as an Ironworker apprentice and helped to build many building throughout New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio and New York. One could not take a ride with Lou without being pointed out the many projects of which he was part of. He was promoted to Foreman, then to Superintendent over 30 year career before deciding in 1989 to form his own company with his sons, Louis and John. Jonasz Precast, Inc. was his pride and joy; his management team would often get to hear the stories of his 50 year career in the precast concrete industry. Lou treated his employees as his family members with all working together to be successful and respected. There was never an outstretched hand that did not receive his firm grip of friendship or assistance. In 2002 Lou retired from Ironworkers Local#399 Camden, NJ, where he was also a member of Apprentice Committee. He was a member of the Punta Gorda Elks Lodge #2606, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 2121, and Mystic Island Co-Operative Association, Mystic Island, NJ. Lou was not one to have idle time so he and Pearl traveled extensively from Caribbean and Hawaiian Islands to exploring the country in their motor home, however he loved being on or near the water and enjoyed boating, fishing and socializing with his many friends and family. At his winter residence in Florida, conversations with friends over dinner and drinks, lead him to his next business venture of Phil's 41 Restaurant in Punta Gorda of which he was immensely proud to be a part. As a member of the Catholic Church, Lou lived his faith on a daily basis, he thanked God for the people who crossed his path, for having had two good wives, family and for all the blessings he had received. The final blessing of eternal life is now his and as he had said many times - "Do not be sad, for my life was good, I have been blessed". For those whose lives have been touched by Lou, rest assured he will miss you as much as you miss him. Lou will be greatly missed by his honey, Pearl (nee Woodhead); their precious furry "daughter", Poko; children, Louis H. (Denise) of Pilesgrove, NJ, John M. of Sicklerville, NJ, Daniel of Gibbsboro, NJ and Kimberly Kreibel of Philadelphia, PA; step-daughter, Jennifer (Chuck) Nehring of Maple Shade, NJ; grandchildren, Jessica, Angela, John, Josephine, Kristen, Frankie, Matt, Chris and Emily; great-grandchildren, Natalia, Layla and Candace; aunt, Margaret of Margate, NJ who was like a second mother to Lou. He was preceded in death by his beloved first wife and mother of his children, Eileen (nee Sealy) Jonasz; mentor and friend Uncle Bob Irwin. A memorial service to celebrate Lou's life will be held 12:00pm, Monday, June 10, 2013 at Phil's 41 Restaurant, Punta Gorda, FL.
