Leslie Blackwell Williams, 43, of Port Charlotte went home to the Lord on July 21, 2016. On July 9, 1973, a bright star entered the lives of Alcolman and Margaret Blackwell. This exquisite star, Leslie, spread light and beautiful music wherever she went. She attended school in Fort Lawn, SC and graduated as Valedictorian of her class of 1991 at Lewisville High School. Continuing with her bright life as a Merit Scholar, she attended Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, FL, and earned a Bachelor's degree in Nursing. She later earned her Master's degree at the University of Alabama/Birmingham, and became a Nurse Practitioner, specializing in Neonatal Care at All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL. Her radiant smile, melodious voice, and warm heart captured the heart of Andre Williams and they were married on July 26, 1997. Their only child and the princess of Leslie's life, is Megan Elizabeth Williams. Her family and friends were the most important treasures and she cherished them deeply. Nursing and caring for others was her career. Singing was her passion. Her greatest idol was Whitney Houston. In the words of one of her closest friends, "She gave everyone a sense of peace. She had a calmness about her that was soothing to all, especially to the many families and babies she cared for. She was admired by her coworkers and teaching peers." Leslie will be greatly missed by her devoted husband, Dr. Andre Williams; a loving daughter, Megan Elizabeth; father Alcolman (Linda) of Heath Springs; SC; brother, Rafael of New York; mother-in-law, Gloria Williams of Port Charlotte, FL and a host of caring family and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Blackwell and stepmother, Dianne Blackwell. The voice of an angel is now signing with a choir in Heaven. The family will receive friends 6 to 8pm Friday, July 29, 2016 at Larry Taylor Funeral Home. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be at 11am, Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Deep Creek Community Church, Punta Gorda. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
