Leroy V. Jones

LeRoy V. Jones, 89, died Sunday April 8, 2007 in Punta Gorda, Florida due to heart failure. LeRoy was born September 28, 1917 to Carl V. and Frances Belle (Judd) Jones in Jackson, Michigan. He was raised in Battle Creek, Michigan and attended Michigan State University and graduated with his Master’s in Chemistry. He worked for Dow Chemical in Midland, Michigan for many years. He married Annabelle Jones in 1940 and the couple had three children. They later divorced. LeRoy married Gloria Jeffrey in 1982 in Maryland. They lived in Maryland for a few years until LeRoy retired in 1990 and the couple moved to Florida. LeRoy could never sit idle and worked in real estate in Florida. LeRoy enjoyed traveling and he and Gloria went on many cruises together. LeRoy is survived by his wife Gloria N. Jones of Punta Gorda; daughters Ann Louise (Mike) Diamond of Loveland, CO and Mary Frances (Allen) Beardsley of Havre, MT; son Geoffrey LeRoy (Sheri) Jones of Willowbrook, Illinois; 3 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Esther. A memorial service will be 2 p.m Sunday, April 22, 2007 at the Port Charlotte Seventh-day Adventist Church with Elder Norm Bassett officiating. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
