Leonard P. Lucas

Leonard P. Lucas, 87, of Punta Gorda, formerly of Oxford, MI went to be with his Lord on Jan. 18, 2015. He was the son of Peter and Lucille Lucas, born Sept. 10, 1927 in Detroit, MI. Leonard retired from Detroit Edison Electric. He came to know Jesus Christ as his Savior when he was a teenager. Leonard was dedicated member of Peace River Baptist Church. At other churches he had served as a Sunday School Teacher, Superintendent, Deacon, singing in the choir and church quartet. Leonard served 3 years on the School Board in Troy, MI. He loved building houses and built homes for family members. He collected watches and enjoyed spending time with family and his dogs. Leonard will be greatly missed by his wife of 63 years, Betty Jo; daughters, Karen (Doug) Hughes of Bonita Springs, FL and Kimberly (Ed) Cordrey of Woodstock, GA; son, Leonard (Donna) Lucas of St. Louis, MO; sister, Lorraine Weil of Lapeer, MI; grandchildren, Doug, Amber, Adam, Clay, Cole, Jena, Kelsey, Paige, Megan and seven great-grandchildren. The family will receive family and friends from Noon to 1pm, Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015 at Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services with the funeral service to follow at 1:00pm.
