Leona G. “Lee” Boland of Punta Gorda, FL went to the Lord on March 14, 2021. She was the youngest of 8 children born to Chester and Mary (Zimmer) Fuller in Chicago, IL on October 18, 1934.
She received a BA from St. Mary of the Woods College in Indiana and a MA from Kansas State University in Pittsburg, KS in 1969. Between getting those degrees, she taught grade and high school in multiple locations.
She married David “Dave” Boland in Gesu Church in Milwaukee, WI on June 7, 1969, as he completed his studies at Marquette University.
They moved to Munising, MI where Dave had accepted a position with Kimberly Clark Corp. They moved to new locations as Dave was transferred in Kimberly Clark. Lee worked for Kimberly Clark in Neenah, WI as a Research Scientist in Infant Care Products for 10 years. She retired with medical retirement in January of 1991.
In October of 1982, Lee was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis which slowly progressed. Even after her retirement, she was still active in many of the activities her children Beth and Gene were involved.
When Dave retired from Kimberly Clark, they retired to Punta Gorda in November 1999. They became members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Lee will be greatly missed by her husband Dave with whom she celebrated 51 years of marriage. She was preceded in death by her parents Chester and Mary Fuller, brothers Chester, Terence, George, Arthur, Robert, and sisters Madonna and Cecelia. Lee is survived by her husband Dave, her two children Elizabeth and Eugene (Erica), eight grandchildren Alexandra (Scott), Derek (Emily), Erich, Jasper, Robert, Garrett, Zachary, and Katherine, and two great-grandchildren Dylan and Leon. She will also be missed by many nephews and nieces.
A visitation will be held from 5-7:00 pm on Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at Johnson Taylor Funeral Home in Punta Gorda.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 25, 2021, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Punta Gorda.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Sisters of Providence Mission Advancement, 1 Sisters of Providence Drive, St. Mary of the Woods, IN 47876.
