Leila F. Hemingway, 91, of Port Charlotte passed away June 10, 2011. She was the daughter of John H. Flood, Sr., and Alma (Andrews) Flood, born June 24, 1919 in Jacksonville, FL. Leila was a clerk for the VA before retiring. She came here from Jacksonville in 1993. Leila loved the Lord and enjoyed reading her Bible every day. She was outgoing and loved meeting people; she was devoted to her family. She enjoyed reading, working in her yard, music, and sewing. Leila was a long-time member of 1st Baptist Church in Punta Gorda before joining Liberty Comm. Church. Leila will be greatly missed by her daughter, Patricia (Mark) Stancil of Port Charlotte; sons, George (Linda) Hemingway of High Springs, FL and Kent Hemingway of Gurnee, IL; brother John Flood of Jacksonville; special cousin, Eola Treadwell of Jacksonville; 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends 4:00 to 6:00 pm, Monday, June 13, 2011 at Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services. The service will be 10:00 am, June 14, 2011 at the funeral home.
