Lawrence R. Kauffman

MSG Lawrence R. Kauffman, 69, of Punta Gorda passed away, Saturday, May 12, 2012 at his residence. He was the son of Karl and Hattie Kauffman, born November 22, 1942 in Philadelphia, PA and moved to Punta Gorda with his family in 1959. Lawrence served proudly with the US Army for 22 years. During his time in the Army, he was stationed all around the world, including one tour of duty in Korea, where he earned the Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, the Army Good Conduct Award and two tours in Vietnam, where he earned the Presidential Citation, the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross and another Army Good Conduct Award. Lawrence will be greatly missed by his wife of 50 years, Doris of S.C.; daughter, Patricia; son, Lawrence, Jr.,; daughter-in-law, Stacy L.; grandson, Christopher; granddaughter, Katlyn; grandson, Cody; great-grandson, Patrick; brother, Eugene, sisters, Virginia Kauffman and Dorathy Harrison. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Carolann Gropp. The family will receive family and friends 4:00 to 6:00 pm, Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services with a service to celebrate Lawrence's life to follow at 6:00 pm.
