Larry A. Wilson

July 25, 1941 — January 19, 2021

Larry A. Wilson, 79, of Port Charlotte, FL, passed away on January 19, 2021. Born July 25, 1941, in Borden, Indiana, he was raised in Miami, FL where he met his life-long love, Paula Garrett. He was her "Knight in Shining Armor" for 65 years. Larry served in the United States Coast Guard from 1961-1965. After moving to Alabama, he raised livestock on a small farm, and enjoyed hunting and fishing trips. Later, he and Paula enjoyed traveling around the country. Retirement from Charlotte County School Board and Charlotte County Library System allowed him to spend his leisure time gardening and spending time with his pets on the back lanai. He was a member of Liberty Community Church where his wife worked for 18 years.

"Daddy" to so many, he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He leaves his wife, Paula, of 63 years, daughter, Wendy Jones (Daniel); and son, Fred Wilson (Michelle). He was a significant figure in raising grandchildren LaWren Wilson, Ashton Chen, and Andrea Wilson; and four great-grandchildren Logan, Lailah, Sofia, and Laurelyn.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made on his behalf to Liberty Community Church, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, or Tidewell Hospice.
