Kenneth "Ken" Robert Stewart, 83, and a 40-year resident of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away on February 22, 2017. Ken was born on October 9, 1933, in Evanston, Illinois, the son of Robert K. Stewart and Ethel Anderson Stewart. Ken was a retired landscaper. He wanted to be remembered as a hard-working, fun-loving, Christian man, and indeed he was. He adored helping people by contributing his efforts, energy, and enthusiasm. The First Presbyterian Church of Port Charlotte was a vital part of Ken's life. He devoted over 30 years of service to the church and formed very special relationships as an active member there. Ken will be remembered by his family and friends for his loving heart, kindness, beautiful smile, and his sense of humor. Ken is survived by his sister, Shirley A. Thuerk, 90 years old, of Santa Clarita, California; and nieces and nephews across the country. He was preceded in death by his sister, Roberta J. Ebaugh, who passed away in 2014. A visitation will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services with a service to celebrate Ken's life to follow at 11:30 a.m. The family would like to express their gratitude to the wonderful caregivers and nurses at Village Place Health and Rehabilitation Center, who took such loving care of Ken these last seven years.
