Kenneth L Haun

Kenneth L. Haun of Punta Gorda passed away April 7, 2018. He was the son of Orval N. and Norene Haun, born in Newfane, NY in 1932. Ken lived in Niagara Falls, NY for most of his younger years until the age of 13 when he moved to Syracuse, NY. In 1950, he graduated from Eastwood High School and moved on to Syracuse University where he graduated with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering in 1954. During this time, Ken was in the Air Force ROTC program. After graduation, he was employed by North American Aviation. Ken was called into military service in Oct. of 1954 and was stationed in South Korea for one year, and another year in N. Concord, VT as a radar maintenance officer. He was in the Air Force Reserve for seven years. In 1956, his father and he founded Haun Welding Supply in Syracuse. In 1991 Ken retired from the family business; and in 1993, he and his wife moved to Punta Gorda. There, he was an active member of the Isles Yacht Club; he served several years as Cruising Chairman and one year of the board of directors. He was a covenant partner of the First Presbyterian Church of Punta Gorda; a past president of the Central New York Pilots Assn. of Syracuse, and an active member of the Civil Air Patrol. Ken was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Ken will be greatly missed by his wife of 63 years, Marjorie; sons, Mark (Janine) of Pompey, NY and Gary of Oviedo, FL; daughters, Judy (John) Bertrand of Rockledge, FL and Patti (Victor) Kidd of Port Charlotte; 11 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. The service in celebration of Ken's life will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church Punta Gorda. Inurnment will be at Sarasota National Cemetery at a later date.
