Kenneth E. Pike, 87, of Port Charlotte passed away January 22, 2013. He was the son of John and Hattie (Dickens) Pike, born January 18, 1926 in Detroit, MI. Kenneth served as a Marine during WWII where he was the in first wave during the invasion of Saipan and Tinian. He was a police officer in Dearborn, MI for six years prior to opening Daly's Drive -In which he owned from 1959 to 1973. In 1973, he moved to Rotonda and opened Pike's Place. Kenneth was an artist, and he enjoyed oil painting, chalk, and pen and ink drawing. He was also a "jack of all trades." Kenneth was a member of Kiwanis in MI and the American Legion. He was of the Catholic faith and was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Dearborn. Kenneth will be greatly missed by his daughters, Gail (Christopher) Eldred, Susan (Gary) Schreier, and Barbara (Andy) Kolba; sons, Kenneth J. (Sylvia) Pike, and David (Debbie) Pike; daughter-in-law, Diane Neal; sister, Menta Foy; grandchildren, Timothy, Tammy, Stacey, Kenny, Kristen, Jennifer, Stephanie, Samuel, Abigail, Clinton, Nicole, Christopher, Kevin, and Michael; 19 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife of 62 years, Regina; and son, Michael. A Memorial Service and Gathering will be held at 6:00 pm Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services.
