Kenneth E. Gellart

Kenneth E. Gellart, 86, of Hamburg, NY, died unexpectedly on March 28, 2020, in Punta Gorda, FL. He was born on December 22, 1933, to Gustav and Evelyn Gellart in Buffalo, NY.


After graduating from Riverside High School in Buffalo, Ken attended Syracuse University. In 1955, he joined the New York State Police. He served honorably in the United States Army from 1956-1958 and then resumed his career with the New York State Police. Following several years of service and dedication, he retired as a Troop “A” Zone Sergeant in 1988 and became a member of the Florida Association of Retired Troopers (NYS) and the NYS Former Troopers Association, Niagara Frontier Chapter.


Kenneth will be deeply missed by his wife of 30 years, Kathleen (Dolan); daughters Kimberlee (John) Babcock of Corfu, NY, and Krista (John) Prescott of Bellevue, WA; step-daughter Amy (James) Ostrowski of Buffalo, NY; and his 6 grandchildren: Kenneth (Colleen) Babcock, Joseph Babcock, Kasen Prescott, Camille Prescott, Anna Ostrowski, and William Ostrowski. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Phyllis Prusia.


A Celebration of Life in New York will be announced in the future, date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial donations to Mercy Flight, ECMC Lifeline Foundation, or Former Troopers Helping Hands.
