Kelvin (Kel) Der Krotzer, 91, a 23-year resident of Punta Gorda, Florida, passed away peacefully at his home on October 28th, 2021.
Kel was born on July 2, 1930, in Iowa City, Iowa, and attended Riverside High School in Milwaukee, WI, as well as the University of Wisconsin. He thereafter spent most of his career in the Sporting Goods and Fishing Gear business, a career that constantly had him traveling to the Far East and beyond. After having lived in Chicago, Miami, Syracuse, Milwaukee, and other places, the family moved to Florida in 1998 upon Kel’s retirement.
Before retirement, Kel was the Corporate Vice President of the Gladding Corporation and later President of Seaway Importing Co. and South Bend Sporting Goods. Kel was also a U.S. Air Force Veteran.
Fishing, golf, and football were Kel’s major hobbies in retirement and he could almost daily be found on his boat at one of his favorite fishing holes or on St Andrews South Golf Course. He was the twice President of the PGI Fishing Club.
Kel is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mary Krotzer, and son Robert Krotzer.
A Celebration of Life event will be announced at a later date. Please send memorial donations to the National Kidney Foundation.
