Karen Coward Glisson, 66, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2020. She leaves behind her husband of 45 years, Wyatt Glisson; her best friend and the love of her life. She is preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Maxine Coward.
Karen and Wyatt were married in December of 1974 and settled down into the business of flowers, starting their own wholesale florist in Punta Gorda in 1980.
Karen, or “Aunt Kiki”, had a big heart and a generous spirit. She loved Pepperidge Farm cookies, painting watercolor landscapes, and singing Disney songs with little children. She loved Jesus, her faith, and her church. She loved cruising to Alaska, big family gatherings, and laughing until her sides hurt.
Though she was a business owner, a wife, an aunt, a traveler, and a painter, she was also a teacher. She taught us how to bake and how to play board games. She taught us how to be bold and boisterous, how to be loyal and kind. She taught us how to live every day to its fullest and how to love everyone without limits or conditions.
Karen’s family - brothers Butch, Matt and Tony, brothers-in-law John and Damon, sisters-in-law Sarah, Camille and Kim, 15 nieces/nephews, 11 great-nieces/nephews, and a multitude of fur babies - will miss her every day.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Flowers are welcome, as are donations to World Vision, a Christian humanitarian organization.
If someone has a favorite story or memory of Karen please leave a note in the tribute section, we would love to see it.
