Jules Auguste Dostie

Jules Auguste Dostie, 85, of Punta Gorda Isles formerly of Maine passed away July 27, 2008. He was born October 7, 1922 in Beauceville Quebec, Canada to Aimee and Alexandrine (Fortin) Dostie. Jules served in the US Army in Burma, India. He was the owner/operator of J. Dostie Jewelers, Inc with his wife until his retirement in 1988. Jules was a registered jeweler and a member of American Gem Society, the Gemological Institue of America, the Independent Jewelers Association, was a director of the Maine Retail Jewelers Association, Rotary Club, DAV and American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, sailing, working outdoors, traveling and his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 58 years, Yvette Julia Dostie; children, Paul (Jill), Jacques (Diane), Daniel (Sue) all of Harpswell, Maine, Mary (Earle) of Williston, FL, Jules Jr. (Holly) of Mechanic Falls, ME and Thomas (Stacy) of Sabattus, Maine; 12 grandchildren and 2 great-granchildren; brother, Father Jacques Dostie of Montreal, Canada; sister, Madeline Lessard of Quebec, Canada. Jules was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters and 2 brothers. The family will received friends 2:00 - 4:00 pm, Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at the Punta Gorda Chapel of Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services. A mass will be at 11:00am, Thursday, July 31, 2008 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Punta Gorda. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Maine.
