Judith R. Crawford

April 7, 1938 — December 13, 2023

Judith R. (Gevert) Crawford of Punta Gorda, FL and Binghamton, NY

Judith R. (Judy) Crawford, 85 of Binghamton, NY and Punta Gorda Fl, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 in her Punta Gorda home, with her daughter by her side. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 51 years, W. Richard (Dick) Crawford, her parents, Harold and Anne Gevert, her sister Suzanne Ann Gevert, and her brother Gerald A. (Skeeter) Gevert. She is survived by her son, W. Richard (Rick) Crawford of Johnson City, NY; son, J. Ronald and Janet Crawford of Chenango Bridge, NY; and daughter, Melinda A. and Jarale Harris of El Paso, TX. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ryan (Amber) Crawford, Lindsey (Aaron) Anderson, Christopher Bufford, Kal’el and Jarale Harris; and her two great-grandchildren William Peter Crawford, and Dean Jon Anderson. In addition to her direct family members she is also survived by her cousin Beverly Nesley, and many great friends in her community of Blue Heron Pines in Punta Gorda, including her special friend Ken Smith.

Judy loved her husband, her brother and sister, and especially her children and grandchildren, with all her heart. She always took great pride in her family, especially her son Rick, and she was eternally thankful to the Achieve organization for enabling Rick to have an independent life. She has always been a beacon of positivity and goodness for our family, and she will be dearly missed.

Judy lived a life full of love, care, and service. She was always there for those that needed her, and she spent her life trying to make others’ lives better. She was active in the community and in her church, and always seemed to be the one working behind the scenes to get people together to have fun, to support a cause, or to help another person. She was always quick to sacrifice her own comfort or resources for another, and was always pleased to see someone else enjoying themselves.

Judy and Dick moved to Punta Gorda, FL in 2009, just 6 months before Dick passed away. Judy’s home in Florida became a true blessing, as it was the perfect place for her to grieve, and joyfully live out the rest of her life, surrounded by the community of friends she loved in her neighborhood. Her family is so thankful for the loving and supportive friends she had at Blue Heron Pines.

A celebration of her life will be held at Valley Christian Reformed Church, 1452 River Road, Binghamton, NY on January 13th at 11:00 a.m., friends may call at the church on the 13th from 9:00 -11:00 AM, and a luncheon will be served at the church immediately following the service that all are invited to attend.
