Joyce Rushton Mason

Joyce Rushton Mason, 80 of Punta Gorda went to join her husband of 56 years, Herbert Y. Mason, at the cocktail party in Heaven on August 2, 2010. Joyce lived a "great life with no regrets", born October 4 1929 in Cranston, RI where she lived for 37 years. She was a graduate of Stoneliegh-Burnham School. She and Herb moved to Bass River, Cape Cod where they were members of the Bass River Yacht Club and Joyce volunteered at Cape Cod Hospital. Her final years were spent traveling the globe while living in Punta Gorda, Florida. Joyce and Herb were members at St. Andrew Golf Club, Twin Isles Country Club and the Isles Yacht Club. They summered in Gun Pointe, ME enjoying sunsets, lobsters, cocktails, friends and family. Her infectious smile and outgoing personality will be missed by all who knew her. Joyce will be missed by her sons, Donald Mason (Jane), James Mason (Linda) and daughter, Debra (Mason) Ophoven (Mark); grandchildren, Lynn, Derek, Laura and Christopher as well as Scott, Matthew, Julie and Ashley. She was lucky enough to have 4 great grandchildren and a beloved canine companion Charlie. She will be missed by many close friends. No services are planned at this time.
