Joseph "Joe" Ozimek, 86, of Punta Gorda, FL passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Port Charlotte Rehabilitation Center. Joseph was born September 11, 1924 in Albany, NY . Joe was an Honorable Veteran of WWII, serving the Army proudly with the 28th Division and seeing action at Normandy, the Ardennes, and was involved in the Battle of the Bulge. Joe was a retiree of the NY Telephone company with nearly 40 years of service. He was a Telephone Pioneer, a Life Member of the VFW. and an active member of the Military Heritage & Aviation Museum, Punta Gorda, Fl. Joe had a very special five pound adopted Yorkie pup named Jelly Bean who spent hours on his lap. Since moving to FL Joe had many outings, and spent holidays at his home or with his sons, grandchildren and their families. Joe will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 65 years Regina (Jean) Ragule Ozimek; sons, Tom (Gloria) Ozimek of Port Charlotte, FL and Joseph (Pamela) of Germantown, WI; and proud grandfather to Jennifer (Ryan) Bellittera, Palmetto, FL and Jonathan Ozimek, Milwaukee, WI.; step-grandfather to Eric (Tiffany) Lane, North Port, FL; and step-great-grandchildren, Devon, Dylan, and McKenzie. A memorial mass will be at 11:00 am, Friday, June 17, 2011 at San Antonio Catholic Church in Port Charlotte. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Military Heritage & Aviation Museum, 1200 W Retta Esplanade, Punta Gorda, FL 33950.
