Joseph F. Mauricio

Joseph F. “Joe” Mauricio, 73, of Punta Gorda passed away October 30, 2006. He was born December 7, 1932 in Tampa, FL to Joseph M and Bertha (Garcia) Mauricio. Joe enlisted in the New Jersey Air National Guard while attending Thomas Jefferson High School. His studies at Newark College were interrupted when the National Guard unit was activated for duty during the Korean conflict. Joe graduated from Newark College of Engineering with a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering. Joe worked for Republic Aviation Company as a engineer, then to American Type Founders as a engineer designing sheet-fed presses. He had stayed in the Air National Guard and was assigned to the USAF 141st Tactical Fighter Squadron, he found himself transferred to Chaumonte, France and in North Africa and Libya before retiring to civilian life and American Type Founders as a senior engineer. Later he became director of technical services for American Type Founders heading its licensees and operating the European sales department in Amsterdam and the Orient. Joe continued his career in the printing industry as a CEO of large companies in Florida, New York and Indiana. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 22 years, Jean; daughter Diana Hunter of Indian Hills, CO; sons Joseph Mauricio of New York, NY and David Mauricio of Evergreen, CO; sister Lynda Marchese of Tampa, FL and granddaughter Dakota Hunter.
