Joseph Charles Cash, 74, of Port Charlotte passed away September 27, 2010. He was the son of Charles J. and Hazel Cash, born April 15, 1936 in Anamosa, IA. He earned his BA from Loras College and his Masters degree from the University of Notre Dame, class of 1960. Joe was an electrical and mechanical engineer, also a licensed general contractor, plumber and electrician . His work as an engineer allowed him and his family to live in many different countries such as; Saigon, Vietnam where he worked at Ralph M. Parsons Co. as a General Engineer; Tehran, Iran employed by IMEG Int. Management and Eng. Group as a Project Manager; Tripoli, Lybia Occidental Petroleum as an Assistant to Production Manager; Venezuela, South America, employed with Lagoven as a Consulting Engineer; Jakarta, Indonesia employed with Purta Bina, Inc. as a Consulting Engineer; Yanbu, Saudi Arabia employed with Ralph M. Parsons Co. as an Operations & Maintenance Consultant, and Kwajalein, Marshall Islands employed with Global Associates as the Utilities Manager... In the USA he worked in Douglas, Arizona at Phelps Dodge Corp. and Frizzell Architects in Fort Myers, FL both as a General Engineer. Joe and his family moved to Port Charlotte in 1974. In 1996, Joe Cash Engineering was started, he assisted many local contractors in Charlotte County before retiring nine years ago. Joe was a member of the Elks, The National Society of Professional Engineers, and Alumni Associations of his Alma Maters. He was a devout Catholic and liked to attend Mass on Sundays. Joe enjoyed boating, deep sea fishing, watching football, writing poetry, gardening, spending time with his family, and listening to his favorite music, Johnny Cash. As an engineer, he loved to fix things from motorcycles, boats, cars, bicycles, anything that was broken. As a faithful husband and a loving father Joe will be dearly missed by his wife, Lan Cash; daughters, Kathy and Angie Cash, sons, Chuck (Dawn) Cash all from Port Charlotte, and Joey Cash of St. Petersburg; and 3 grandchildren, Anthony, Alexander, and Rylan. He also leaves behind his beloved dogs. Services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, October 9, 2010, at Saint Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 2500 Easy Street, Port Charlotte with Father Tom Heck officiating.
