Joseph C. Monteleone, 74, of Punta Gorda, formerly of Brooklyn, NY, passed away January 20, 2011. He was born August 2, 1936 in Brooklyn, NY to Salvatore and Theresa (Tasevoli) Monteleone. Joseph proudly served with the NYPD for 23 years. After retiring, he became a Hospital Administrator for Brookdale Medical Center; he then taught math and social studies in Brooklyn. After moving to Florida in 1990, he worked as a claims investigator with the State of Florida. Joseph continued his volunteer work as a mentor and tutor to local youth. He was the presiding President of Mansota 10-13 and the National Treasurer of NY 10-13 Associations of America. Joseph was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He will be greatly missed by his sister, Augusta (Rolf) Weiss of Venice, FL; sons, Joseph (Ingrida) of Bordentown, NJ, Michael (Mary) of Southaven, MS and Robert (Stephen Mack) of New York, NY; daughters, Linda (Richard) Liedtka of Hamilton Square, NJ and Elaine (Glenn) Mealy of Columbus, NJ; twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A service in celebration of Joseph's life will be 11:00 am, Saturday, February 12, 2011 at San Antonio Catholic Church, Port Charlotte. Memorial donations may be made to the Charity of Your Choice.
