John W. "Skip" Bennett, Jr., 70, of Punta Gorda, formerly of Rhode Island passed away June 20, 2015. He was the son of Bertha and John W. Bennett, Sr., born February 17, 1945 in Providence, RI. Skip was the Shop Foreman for Horner's Auto Repair. He was a member of the NSRA and enjoyed restoring classic cars including his prize 1956 Ford F100. Skip and his wife Chris loved traveling by motor home, going to NASCAR races and drag strips. Skip will be greatly missed by his wife of 36 years "together", Christine "Chris" Linden-Bennett; children, Katie, Aimee, Patricia, Christopher and John; brother, Charles; sister, Patricia; grandchildren, Christopher, Hunter, Nicholas, Emily, Sarah, Hannah, Zachariah and Quinn; great-grandson, Gavyn. A celebrate of life gathering will be held from 3 to 8 pm, Sunday June 28, 2015 at Bayfront Center YMCA, 750 Retta Esplanade, Punta Gorda.
