John R. Michaels

John R. Michaels, 86, of Punta Gorda, FL passed away on December 1, 2019. He was born on March 1, 1933, to Ferdinand and Helen Michaels in Water Lou, IA. John moved to Minneapolis, MN as a child and joined the Airforce following graduation. In the military, he served as a Military Police Officer, training canines for duty. John grew very fond of his dog companions, continuing to work with and own them throughout his lifetime.
John worked in assembly with Alliant Tech/Honeywell, retiring as a Supervisor in April of 1993. In August of that year, he moved to Punta Gorda to enjoy his happily ever after with his wife Judith whom he married in 1985. He was a member of the Pilgrim Church and VFW for many years. John was an avid reader of war books and the bible. He loved sports, especially football.
John will be deeply missed by his wife of 34 years, Judith; daughters Mary Christine, Valery, Cindy, and Dawn; sons John Jr., Richard, and Dean; brother James; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and loved ones. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother William and sister Marge.
