John R Marx

John R. Marx, 79, Punta Gorda passed away Fri, October 5, 2012. He was the son of George and Ruth (Sheehy) Marx, born on November 12, 1932 in Chicago, IL. John served in the US Army from 1953 to 1955 and then worked in research for Continental Can Co as a Metallurgist. He moved from Chicago, Illinois to Punta Gorda in 1999. He was a member of the American Legion Post 103, Elks Lodge #2606, VFW Post 5690 and Adjutant for American Legion Post 103 and 13th District for a number of years. John was of the Catholic faith and enjoyed golf, fishing and gardening. John will be greatly missed by his wife of 56 years, Dottie; daughter, Cherie Marx; son, John Marx, Jr.; sister, Elizabeth Griffith; grandchildren, Danielle and Matthew and many nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mariruth Willett. A memorial service will be at 1:00 pm on Wed., October 10, 2012 at American Legion Post 103, 2101 Taylor Road, Punta Gorda.
