John Lewis Sisk, of Punta Gorda, FL, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 in Port Charlotte, FL at the age of 87. He was born on July 15, 1928 in Madison, Wisconsin. He graduated from Amherst College in 1950. In 1951, he married Anne Page Learoyd, and together, they had 3 sons. John worked for 30 years at Sears, Roebuck and Co. in Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois and Indiana before assuming the position of President and CEO of Herman's World of Sporting Goods. He retired to Punta Gorda in 1987 where he renounced wearing socks and continued his life-long passion for sailboat racing and cruising. Active members of the Isles Yacht Club, John and Anne cruised the Gulf, Bahamas and as far away as Tonga over the ensuing 30 years. John is survived by Anne, his beloved wife of 64 years; sisters, Harriet Sisk Fish and Mary Sisk Rawls; sons Jonathan, Robert and David; daughters-in-law Tanya, Aude and Janet; grandchildren (to whom he was affectionately known as "Grandpa Sir") Matthew, Geoffroy, Anne, Adlade, Jean-Charles, Katherine, Morgan and Connor; and great-granddaughters Elonore and Josephine. He was predeceased by his parents, Ira and Fredrica Sisk, and sister, Carol Sisk Patterson. John will be laid to rest at the family cemetery in Danvers, MA. Much loved by all, he will be greatly missed.
