John L. Quimby

John L. Quimby, 91, of Punta Gorda, FL passed away June 27, 2015. He was the son of William and Lida Quimby, born March 19, 1924 in Craig, MO. John was a retired Chief Petty Officer in the US Navy and fought during WWII. He was also a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars; he served for over 20 years. John was married to Viola Sicurella (deceased) and Virginia Fortune (deceased). After his retirement from the Navy he lived and worked in Maryland. He was a member of American Legion, VFW, Knights of Columbus for Mt Calvary Church and the Fathers Club at Gonzaga High School. John will be greatly missed by his sons, Pete (Debbie) Quimby, Greg (Dale) Quimby and Danny Quimby; daughter, Mary Monica (Phillip) McClean; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. A gathering of family and friends will be held 5 to 7 pm, Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at Larry Taylor Funeral Home. A visitation will be held 10 to 11:30am, Friday, July 3, 2015 at River of Hope Church, Mound City, MO with a funeral service to follow. Burial will be at IOOF Cemetery, Craig, MO.
