John F. Rogers

John Frederick Rogers, 72, of Windmill Village in Punta Gorda passed away January 9, 2008 following a very courageous battle with Lou Gehrigs Disease. He was born May 21, 1935 in Buffalo, NY. John served in the US Army, stationed in Germany . He worked as a machine mechanic operator for General Mills Buffalo, NY until he retired in 1997. John was a member of the Elks Lodge #2606, Royal Order of the Moose Lodge #1693 and Friendship United Methodist Church. He was an avid golfer, fisherman and enjoyed numerous trips throughout the United States, Hawaii and Alaska. John will be greatly missed by his wife of 29 years, Gail Wasenko Rogers; son, John (Samantha) of Columbus, Oh; daughter, Cheryl (Scott) Waldoch of Nashville, TN; brothers, Thomas of Hume, NY and Robert (Dorothy) of Hubert, NC; step-children, Robert Jeffords, Leah (Eric) Clapsadle, and Kenneth (Lynn) Jeffords; eleven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents John Henry Rogers and Edna (Pfeiffer) Rogers and sister Mary Lou Marlin. A memorial service will be 11:00 am, Tuesday February 5, 2008 at Friendship United Methodist Church. Memorial donations may be made to A.L.S.
