John Cunsolo

John Cunsolo, 83, of Port Charlotte passed peacefully from death to life eternal on Tuesday, March 4, 2014. John was born May15, 1930, in Corona, NY, the 6th of 7 children born to Philip and Rosa (nee Barbagallo) Cunsolo. He graduated with highest honors from Newtown High School, and married his high school sweetheart Rosemarie Morales in July of 1950. They had 2 daughters, Linda Rose & Eva Marie. John worked 40 years at Russ Togs in Long Island City, NY, working his way up from floor boy to plant production manager at the ladies sportswear company, while earning his degree at night from Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan. He retired early for health reasons, & he & Rosemarie moved to Port Charlotte, FL. John was a very active member of First Baptist Church of Port Charlotte and served as a deacon, chaired the school council, taught Sunday School, and was a lay minister with visitation to nursing homes, hospitals, and shut-ins. He truly loved serving The Lord. John survived 2 bouts of cancer & several open-heart surgeries, & was in fragile health the last few years. He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of 63 years, Rosemarie; daughter, Eva Marie (David) MacLeod; sister, Angie Ciaramella; grandchildren, Heather Leah, John Alex, and Tia Rose; and 4 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers Ronald, Mike, Jimmy, and Philip; sister Mary; and daughter Linda Keenan. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11am, Monday, March 10, 2014 at First Baptist Church of Port Charlotte with a service to celebrate John's life at 11am. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to Community Christian School, 20035 Quesada Blvd, Port Charlotte, FL 33952.
