John A. Garant

John A. Garant, 63, of Punta Gorda passed away May 28, 2007. He was born February 19, 1944 in Wyandotte, MI to Alphonse and Mary (Czajka) Garant. John graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1961 and joined the Marines during the Vietnam War. He worked for Caterpillar Tractor as a Machinist in East Peoria Tool Room and retired after 30 years. John was a member of American Legion Post 110 in Port Charlotte, Mohammed Temple in Peoria, IL, Moose and Elks Lodge and a 32nd degree Mason. He enjoyed the beach, boating and was an avid sport fan who made many trips to watch his favorite teams in action. John will be greatly missed by his wife of 33 years, Pamela; daughter Julie (Bill) Holmberg of Springfield, IL; son Mark Maxwell of Pekin, IL; brothers Jim and Frank of CA; Tom of North Port and Edward of Creve Coeur, IL; four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law and father-in-law Bill and Bea Ashey and brother-in-law John Ashby. The family will receive friends 11:00 to 12:00 pm, Friday, June 1, 2007 at the Punta Gorda Chapel of Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services.
