Joanne Burton Gunther

Joanne B. Gunther, 74, of Punta Gorda passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2011. She was born August 9, 1937 in Fulton, NY to Harold and Gwendolyn (Fuller) Burton. Joanne earned her bachelor's degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology where she met and married Harold Gunther. Joanne lovingly raised her family in Hinsdale, IL and moved to Punta Gorda upon Harry's retirement in 1986. She was well known for her patience, kindness, and optimism. She was an active member of Congregational United Church of Christ, P.E.O. Sisterhood, Charlotte County Genealogical Society, and Peace River Quilters' Guild. She will be greatly missed by her daughters, Lisa (Russ) Rossi of Lutz, FL, Linda (Kevin) McElligott of Palm Harbor, FL and Gail (Bill) Davis of Fort Myers, FL; brother, Maurice Burton of Valley Falls, NY; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service to celebrate Joanne�s life will be at 1:00 pm, Saturday, September 17, 2011 at Congregational United Church of Christ.
