Jere L. Williams, 52, of Port Charlotte passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2016. He was the son of Sylvester Williams, Sr. and Irene Williams, born August 7, 1964 in Cincinnati, OH. Jere moved to Port Charlotte in 1996 to open and manage the 7-11 on Kings Hwy. Later, Jere began his career in nursing as an LPN at Fawcett Memorial Hospital, and was currently an RN working towards his BSN. He was a baseball umpire for several years, and was owner and promoter for Florida Icon Continental pageants. Jere will be greatly missed by his mother, Irene Williams; sisters, Jackie (Willie) Phillips, Martha Williams, and Marie Williams; brothers, Sylvester (Deborah) Williams, Jr., John Williams, and Darrel Williams; nieces, Shamequa Newell, Lakeysha Newell, Lecole, Newell, and Ashley Williams; nephews, Darius (Natasha) Williams, Rudenlton Bellamy, and Tydarius Newell; many aunts, uncles, cousins, great-nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. The family will receive friends 6 to 8pm Friday, December 16, 2016. The service in celebration of Jere's life will be 1pm Saturday, December 17 at First Baptist Church, Port Charlotte.
