Jeanette "J" Clanton Kirschling, 67 of Punta Gorda, FL passed away on November 20, 2016. She was born April 20, 1949 in Brooklyn, New York, to Earl and Eleanor Carson. After spending her childhood in Virginia, where she graduated from Radford University with a B.S. in Education, she moved to Greensboro, North Carolina. There she raised her two children, earned her Master's Degree, and either taught, tutored, or mentored children. In 2012, "J" retired to Punta Gorda, Florida. "J" had a strong religious faith and attended both Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Burnt Store Presbyterian Church. "J" valued spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews and friends. Not only did she receive laughter and joy from them, but she also entertained them with her story telling abilities. Although "J" had a wide circle of friends, she was supported before and during her illness by best girlfriends and sister who hosted her for "Girls Only Margarita Nights", lunches and couples dinner parties. "J" will be missed, but NEVER forgotten! "J" is survived by loving husband John "Jack" Kirschling; daughter, Temple Phipps; son Travis (Jennifer) Phipps; stepson Ryan (Katie) Kirschling; stepdaughter, Tara Lee (Kim Abbott) Veazey; sister, Dawn (Marty) Leeper; brother David (Tina Leigh) Carson; grandchildren, Molly and Cassidy Mace ; Vaughn Preston Phipps ; Gavin and Kellen Kirschling . "J" was especially close to her sisters in law, Renee Carson, Leigh Carson and Jane Kirschling; an uncle, John Carson; and her many Carson and Leeper nieces and nephews. In addition to family members, "J" loved her dog Eli who was her constant companion for fourteen years. A private Celebration of Life will be held by the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to one of the following: American Cancer Society, Animal Welfare League of Charlotte County, 3519 Drance Street, Port Charlotte, FL 33980 or J and Jack are sponsoring a Guatemalan, eight year old girl named Melany. You may send a check made out to Jack and marked "Unbound" in the memo line. Jack will then send that amount to Melany's account. If you make a direct donation to Unbound, it goes into a general fund and not into Melany's account.
