Jean Osborne passed away peacefully on Nov. 27, 2017 at the age of 76 in Punta Gorda, FL, while residing at the Palms of Punta Gorda Assisted Living Facility. Jean suffered for some years from frontotemporal degeneration which is a rare form of dementia. She is survived by her husband, Daniel Q. Osborne; daughter, Andrea P. Osborne; and brothers, David, Donald, and Robert Glasgow. Jean was raised in Crystal City, MO where she had a happy childhood throughout her schooling years. She attended Crystal City High School and earned a B.S. degree at the University of Wisconsin at Madison. She experienced a full life more than most could imagine as she lived much of her life overseas as an international school teacher. After working as a research chemist for years, Jean met her husband while teaching at a Swiss boarding school and embarked on a life of living, working and traveling around the world. They taught in Switzerland, Greece, Brazil, Afghanistan, United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Indonesia, China, Senegal, Jordan, as well as the US Virgin Islands. Much of their vacation time was spent traveling to many other parts of the world. While abroad she gave birth to a daughter and introduced her to an international lifestyle, which she continues to live to this day. Jean had many hobbies that kept her busy when not teaching such as skiing, sailing, reading, international cooking, and knitting. Jean has always enjoyed music as there was much of that in the household because her husband often played music with friends. She spent many years living and sailing with her husband throughout the Caribbean on their live aboard sailboat. Upon retirement and a return to the USA they adapted to a new life style which was that of RVing. There will be a private memorial gathering with family and ashes will be spread from our sailboat in Punta Gorda as well as in the Mississippi River near her beloved childhood home. In lieu of memorial donations or flowers, please defer to the following web address to make a donation for research for the disease from which Jean suffered.
