James Ronald Bowman

James Ronald Bowman, 81 of Punta Gorda, Florida, passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2017, in Bloomington, Indiana following a battle with brain cancer. He was born February 27, 1936 in Toledo, Ohio, moving to Charlotte County in 1994. Jim was employed by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Ohio and Picton-Cavanagh, Inc in Toledo for 20 years and was an independent agent for 25 years, both in Florida and Toledo. Jim also served his nation in the U.S. Air Force and the 180th TFW, Ohio National Guard. He was a past Commodore of Bay View Yacht Club (1994) in Toledo, a member of the Punta Gorda Elks 2606, and served and worshiped at Pilgrim United Church of Christ in Port Charlotte. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 63 years, Connie Bowman; daughter Barbara G. (Thomas) Hafner; and his grandchildren, Eric (Paul) Hafner of Bloomington, Indiana; Scott (Kim) Hafner of Bankok, Thailand; Adam Hafner of Charlotte, North Carolina; Mandy Hafner of Indianapolis, Indiana; David (Jackie Birner) and Allen (Samantha DeCapua-Manning) Block and Kate (Josh Greer) and Hayley Edwards of Charlotte County; and many dear family and friends. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Valerie Jean Block Edwards, and a brother, Robert E. Bowman. A memorial service in celebration of Jims life will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 11:00am at Pilgrim United Church of Christ in Port Charlotte.
