James Ross Harden, Sr., was born Apr. 22, 1938 in Hudson, Michigan to LeRoy and Bernice Harden. He served in the National Guard and US Navy. He worked at the Metropolitan Police Dept of Washington DC and Prince George County Police Dept. During his few years as a police officer, James was privileged to stand as Honor Guard over the body of President John F. Kennedy in the Rotunda after his assassination. He spent many years in the auto industry and truck driving, and loved to work on automobiles. James once restored a 1963 Peterbilt truck which took many awards across the country. James was a member of Genesis Christian Church of the Nazarene. He had a true passion for children's ministry. James passed away January 31, 2018 at the age of 79. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Mary Louise; children, James (Cheryl) Harden, Jr., Cari Harden, Toni Harden, Shad Harden, Glen (Faith) Harden, Mary Christine Harden and Jamie Louise Harden; grandchildren, R Jory Lieb, Jaron Boysen, Tayler Cerutti-Harden,Tia Cerutti-Harden, Fox Harden, Gavin Harden, Mackenzie Harden, and Savannah Harden; and 2 great-grandchildren. Services to celebrate James' life will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Genesis Christian Church of the Nazarene, 19150 Helena Avenue, Port Charlotte, FL 33948.
