James Peak, Jr.

James Reed Peak Jr., 62 of Punta Gorda, FL passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, June 11, 2014. He was born on September 9, 1951 in Cincinnati, OH, to James Reed and Virginia Lee Peak. After living in Ludlow, KY and Rochester, NY, his family moved to Fort Lauderdale, FL where he graduated from Northeast High School in 1969 and received his Associate's degree from Broward Community College in 1972. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1977-1985 and worked for various companies after his military service, eventually settling down in Punta Gorda, where he worked as a Corrections Officer for the Charlotte Correctional Institute for 10 years. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, scuba diving and vacationing in Las Vegas, NV. He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Peak of Greenville, NC; ex-wife, Martha Wing of Greenville, NC; brothers, Mike Peak of Chantilly, VA and Doug Peak of Houston, TX.
