James J. Bailey

April 11, 1935 — November 23, 2017

James J. Bailey, 82 of Punta Gorda, FL and Norwalk, CT left this world on Thanksgiving Day, November 23, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Stamford, CT to Elsie and James H. Bailey. After graduating from Stamford High School Jim enlisted in the US Army where he became a chef, boasting he made the best apple turnovers in the army. Following his honorable discharge, Jim began his career with Pitney Bowes which led him to help develop, manage and direct their MIS Systems. After 33 years of dedicated service, Jim decided to retire and pursue his many interests in skiing, boating and camping. In 2003 Jim and Trudy, his wife if 58 years relocated to Punta Gorda and became typical snowbirds. Their love of travel took them all over the world. But, he was happiest when spending time with his family, who he loved dearly. In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by his three devoted children, James R. Bailey and his wife Christie, Lisa Bailey Glover and her fianc Phil Mawson, Jackie Bailey Barrett and her husband Peter and the lights of his life, granddaughters Katie, Samantha and Laurel Bailey. Internment will take place on Wednesday, December 27 at 11:00am at the Long Ridge Union Cemetery, 156 Erskine Road, Stamford, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, PO Box 1893, Memphis, TN 38101, or a charity of ones choice.
