James Beehler Black, 67, of Punta Gorda, FL passed away Sunday, August 11, 2013. He was the son of Joel and Elizabeth (Beehler) Black. Born March 4, 1946 in Staunton, VA. James graduated from Watertown High School in 1964, in Watertown, CT and graduated from Maine Maritime Academy in 1968. He served in the Merchant Marines. James worked as a Northeast Utilities Maintenance Supervisor for 11 years then as a Technical Systems Engineer at Aramark for 20 years. He was of the Episcopalian faith and moved from Connecticut to Punta Gorda in June of 2005. James will be deeply missed by his wife of 43 years, Diana; daughter, Melani his only child until she married, Clemens Pauly, who became like his son; grandsons, Alexander, Nicolas, and Maximilian all of Miami, FL; brother, William Black and wife Sharon of Newington, NH. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joel Black and Elizabeth Collins. A service to celebrate James' life will be held at 10am, Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Church of the Good Shepherd, Punta Gorda.
