James A. Nix

James A. Nix, 74, of Punta Gorda passed away January 26, 2017. He was the son of Aubry and Helen Nix, born February 18, 1942 in Iva, SC. James was a computer programmer for the IRS starting in the early days of the computer industry; he retired from the IRS after 35 years of service. He moved to Cape Coral in 1995, then to Punta Gorda in 2009. For the first 10 years of his retirement, he enjoyed fishing, then he found his true passion, flying air planes. He spent many happy hours flying his Apollo Light Sport, and was a member of Aircraft Owners and Pilots Assn (AOPA) and Experimental Aircraft Assn (EAA). James will be greatly missed by his sons, James M. Nix and John (Jennifer) Nix; sister, Janice (Gene) Spray; granddaughter, Alyssa Nix; and special friend, Meg Wegel. Services will be private.
