Jack F Byrd

Byrd, Jack Floyd, Age 72 of Carlisle, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on August 13, 2021, at Bayfront Health, Punta Gorda, Fl. 

He was born in Campton, Kentucky on April 5, 1949. He attended Stivers High School in Dayton, Ohio. Preceded in death by his parents, John Floyd & Hazel Fern (Faulkner) Byrd, sisters, Henrietta Lammers and Bonnie Faye Plemmons, and granddaughter, Shelby Lynn Lovelace. 

He is survived by three brothers, James Byrd (wife June) of Campton, Ky., Ralph Byrd (wife Linda) of Dayton, Oh., Tommy Byrd (wife Linda) of Hillsboro, Oh., two sisters, Thelma Esther Main (husband John) of Delaware, Oh., and Janie Smith of Fort Myers, Fl. 

He leaves to cherish his High School sweetheart, the love of his life, and wife of 52 years, Sharon. Daughters, Jackie Lynn Lovelace (husband Jon) of Centerville, Oh., Sharon Renee Baker (husband Scott) of Carlisle, Oh., and grandchildren, Cody Ryan (Mandy), Jack Mathew (Lexi), and Brooklyn Kay Smith; and step-grandchildren, Rachael, Andrew, and Brandon Baker. In addition, he leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends whom he loved. 

Jack retired from the Carpenter’s Union after 35 years of service. He also hung aluminum siding for various construction companies for several years. A decorated veteran, he proudly served in the United States Army and did 1 tour of duty in Vietnam. Jack received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, a Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, and Marksman Badge Rifle badge for M14 and M16. Jack was a Past Master of the Riverside Masonic Blue Lodge, Millennium Lodge, Mt. Moriah Chapter #230- Royal Arch Masons and Knights Templer, Harvest Chapter #564 Order of the Eastern Star, Dayton, Ohio. He was also a Kentucky Colonel and VFW Member of Middletown, Ohio. 

Jack’s favorite hobbies included fishing, playing guitar, listening to bluegrass music and being surrounded by his family, laughing, and playing pranks on them whenever he could. 

While our hearts are broken, as we have lost our hero, the picture of the reunion that is taking place in Heaven brings us great comfort. We rejoice in knowing we will be together again soon and very soon!

A Memorial service will be planned at a later date in Dayton, Ohio.
