J. Thurston Martin

J. Thurston Martin, 73, of Port Charlotte, FL passed away Friday, January 17, 2014. He was the son of Allen and Myrla Martin, born August 8, 1940 in Sebring, FL. Thurston was a commercial realtor in Charlotte County and received multiple recognition for his work including Reader's Choice Award. He was the former Executive Director of the YMCA and was a member of the Rotary Club. Thurston was a family man, and a loving husband, father and grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed football, and was a die-hard Florida Gators fan. Thurston will be greatly missed by his wife of 37 years, Priscilla "Pat"; daughters, Cyndi (David) Cox, Tricia (Todd) Leckbee; sons, Doug (Joan) Timmons, Garry (Fernanda) Timmons and Greg (Stephanie) Martin; 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. A memorial service to celebrate Thurston's life will be held at 11am on January 22, 2014 at Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services.
