J. Lamoyne Oblinger

March 17, 1936 — April 16, 2006

J. LaMoyne Oblinger, 70, of Port Charlotte passed away April 16, 2006 at Tandem Healthcare after a lengthy illness. She was the daughter of Thelbert and Grace Smith, born March 17, 1936 in Dearborn, MI. After earning her Masters Degree in Education from Eastern Michigan University, LaMoyne taught 1st and 3rd grades for the Dearborn, MI School System for 28 years. She met her husband, Ronald, in 1988 and in 1989 they came to Port Charlotte from Michigan. In later years, as her health declined, she found interest in monitoring police activity on her scanner, and became knowledgeable about the people and procedures. LaMoyne will be greatly missed by her husband, Ronald; son, Kent Benson of Orlando, FL and 3 grandchildren of Orlando; 5 step-children, 4 step-grandchildren and a step-great-grandson, all of Michigan. Her parents preceded her in death. The service in celebration of LaMoyne’s life will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at the Punta Gorda Chapel of Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services. The family requests memorial donations be made to the Lupus Foundation of America, 2000 L Street NW #710, Washington, DC 20036.
