Irene Doris (Muzzey) Bates, 87, of Harbor Terrace, Port Charlotte, FL died March 24, 2007. Born March 5, 1920 in Providence R.I., the daughter of the late Edward H. and Mildred I.(McLaughlin) Muzzey. She and her husband lived in Warwick, RI from 1954 to 1983 when they moved to Stuart, FL. In 2006, Irene then moved to Port Charlotte, FL to be near her daughter. During World War II, Irene served in the US Coast Guard Women's Reserve, SPARS. While living in Warwick, she worked at Rhode Island Hospital Trust. Most recently, she volunteered at the Blake Library in the Martin County Library System in Stuart, FL. Irene was a member of the Unitarian Fellowship in Stuart, FL, member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a long time member of the Swingers at Martin County Golf and Country Club. She is survived by a daughter, Judith E. (Robert Borges ) Bates ; son Bruce J.(Susan) Bates; granddaughter, Alyson J. Bates (Andrew) Lombard. She was preceded in death by her husband James J.
