Helen Louise Anderson, age 96, of Punta Gorda, Florida, passed away peacefully December 25 at her home in the arms of husband Rex and daughter Robin. Born April 6, 1927 in New Marshfield, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Naomi Ann Barber Dicken.
She was a graduate of Waterloo High School. She was married on June 28, 1957 to the love of her life, Rex M. Anderson. She was a loving mother to two daughters Robin (Walter) Salicki of Fort Worth, Texas and Tina Shrider of Thornport, Ohio. She had five grandsons that she adored; Cole (Keisha) Duncan, Jacob Salicki, Mitchell Salicki, Rexford Salicki and Joseph Shrider, a great grandson Fox Duncan and great granddaughter Lana Duncan. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and dear friends.
Helen was a member of the First Presbyterian of Punta Gorda. Her faith provided her path and light in life and the Golden Rule her guide.
Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her sisters; Alice Pierce Hamby, Doris Mace, Harriett “Dixie” Dinsmoor, Esther Prater Dressler, Edna Rose "Rosie" Mace; and Grace Lehman and two brothers, George and Charles “Hotdog” Dicken.
A celebration of her life will be conducted on Monday January 15th at 10:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Punta Gorda on Airport Road with Pastor Dr. Barksdale Pullen officiating. She will be laid to rest at the Sarasota National Cemetery at a date yet to be determined.
