Hazel D. Long

March 11, 1928 — September 4, 2016

Hazel Dean Long, 88, formerly from Clinton, passed away Sunday September 4, 2016 at the Solaris nursing home in Port Charlotte, FL. Hazel had been residing in Port Charlotte the past five years to be with family. She was born in the Clinton area to Arthur and Edna Hooks on March 11, 1928. Hazel lived in Detroit, Michigan for many years where she had a productive 25 year career at US Truck Co. She was a member of the Teamsters Union, the Daughters of America, Temple Baptist Church in Detroit and more recently of the South Clinton Baptist Church. Hazel is survived by sons, Kenneth Larry (Pam) Long of Punta Gorda, Florida and Garry Victor (Carol) Long of Detroit, Michigan. She also had seven grand children Jason, Toby, Amy, Michael, Kenny, Kelly, and Kameron. There were also a host of nieces and nephews as well as many grand children and great grand children. She was preceded in death by both her parents her husband, Kenneth, her daughter, Deborah, her sisters, Dee, Velma Lee, Bertha, and Helen and brothers, Theodore and Clarence. Friends and family will meet at Holley Gamble Funeral Home at 10:00 am, Tuesday, September 13, 2016 for visitation. A service will be held at 12:00, officiated by Dr. Roger Pugh, and then will go in procession to Anderson Memorial Gardens for interment.
