Harold C. Schott, Jr., 86, of Punta Gorda, formerly of Chicago, IL passed away peacefully Monday, June 18, 2012 at Charlotte Regional Medical Center after a very brief illness. He was born June 22, 1926 in Chicago, IL to Harold and Evelyn (Pedersen) Schott, Sr. Harold served in the US Navy during WWII while attending flight training school. He was a world traveler in his field of work as a chemist, which included working for Griffeth Laboratories and Dole. Harold was an very active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Punta Gorda and served on the congregation board as former President. He was an avid fisherman, boater and a world renowned skeet shooter. Harold was a member the Punta Gorda Elks and the Charlotte Harbor Yacht Club serving as former Vice Commodore. He will be remembered as a very helpful, generous person, with a warm and friendly smile. Harold will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Marilyn; daughters, Kristine (Mark) Schnarr and Karin (Tim) Rooney; sister, Katherine (Terry) Sanders; four grandchildren; four step-children and eight step-grandchildren. The family will receive friends and family 3:00 to 5:00 pm, Sunday, June 24, 2012 at Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services. A funeral service will be Monday, June 25, 2012 at 11:00 am at Faith Lutheran Church Punta Gorda. To express condolences to the family, please sign the online guest book.
