Harold B. Gronek, 88, of Charlotte Harbor passed away November 5, 2005. He was the son of John and Julia (Krajecki) Gronek, born October 5, 1917 in Chicago, IL. He served in the Army during WWII as a base photographer. He continued with photography after the army, taking many portrait and wedding photos. Harold was a supervisor for Western Electric Telephone Co before retiring, and was a lifetime member of Telephone Pioneers - Western Electric. He came to Charlotte Harbor in 1998 from Columbus, OH. Harold will be greatly missed by his wife, Dorothy; sons, Tom (Marian) Gronek of New Port Richey, FL and Robert (Veronica) Gronek of Orlando, FL; step-daughters, Roseanne (Ed) Jewell of Avon Park, FL, Janet McKinney of Canal Winchester, OH, and Deborah McKinney of Las Vegas, NV; brother John (Barbara) Gronek of Palm Desert, CA; grandsons, William Gronek of Costa Mesa, CA and James Gronek and Andrew Gronek, both of Columbus, OH; granddaughters, Ann Gibbs of Atlanta, GA and Molly Gronek of Orlando, FL; step-grandsons, Nick and John Neff, both of Las Vegas, NV, and John and James Delatorre, both of Columbus, OH; 7 great-grand children and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Lietz Gronek, and sister, Irene DeLaby. The family will receive friends 1:00-4:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 8 at the Punta Gorda Chapel of Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services, with the service in celebration of Harold’s life following at 4:00 p.m. The family requests memorial donations be made to Tidewell Hospice and Palliative Care, 5955 Rand Blvd, Sarasota, FL 34238.
