H. Richard "Dick" Smith, 84, of Punta Gorda, FL passed away April 29, 2018. He was the son of Charles and Ester Smith, born December 13, 1933 in Fostoria, OH. Dick proudly served in the Ohio National Guard. He was a business owner and one of the founders of SK Construction and Triasco Corp. He was a former board of director of Ohio Contractors Assn., American Road and Transportation Builders Assn., Bank One of Middletown and the Middletown area Chamber of Commerce. Dick was also the President of OCA and Chamber of Commerce; he was inducted into the OCA Hall of Fame in 1994. He received the Outstanding Community Service award from the City of Middletown at the All-American Weekend, July 4, 1990. Dick retired in 1996 and moved to Punta Gorda from Middletown, OH. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 159 in Camden, OH, Burnt Store Presbyterian Church and a previous member of West Elkton United Methodist of OH. Dick will be greatly missed by his wife of 65 years, Lois Jean; sons, Daniel (Tina), Scott (Michelle), Jim (Colette); sister, Betty (Bob) Forward; grandchildren, Sara (David) Wilson, Holley Smith, Haley Lewis; great grandchildren, Ellie and Kenzie Wilson, Eden Miller and Samantha Rose. He was preceded in death by his brother, Don; daughter, Lisa Ellen Smith and grandchild, Bryan Smith. A Celebration of Life will be held on June 4th at 11:00am at Burnt Store Presbyterian. Memorial donations can be made to the M.J. Fox Foundation or to Burnt Store Presbyterian, Punta Gorda, FL. To express condolences to the family, please sign the online guest book.
