Gordon Hodgson (1947-2020)
Gordon Hodgson of Punta Gorda, Florida passed away on April 28, 2020 at Lee Memorial Hospital in Fort Myers, Florida. A Celebration of Life will take place at the convenience of the family at a later date.
He was born in Geraldton, Ontario on October 10, 1947 to Ralph and Etta Hodgson. Gord met the love of his life Diane at age 17, and they married 4 years later on June 7, 1969 in Burlington, Ontario. They enjoyed 50 years of marriage. Gord created a blissful life of adventures as they raised their daughters Tracy and Tammy in Ontario, Canada.
Gord was never a man to remain settled for long. He spent his working years in mechanical sales from Canada to Chile and everywhere in between. You could always count on Gord to know the answer to every detail about the equipment he sold, no matter how small. With a sharp mind that never rested, he always had his eye on the next big project. During his free time, Gord loved working with his hands. He had a passion for cars, and spent his younger years fixing and selling many now classic cars that he sure wished he had kept! He flipped houses before such a thing even existed, and innumerable long winter weekends were spent on the next home improvement project. He was fastidious in all things, and never did any job halfway.
Gord and his family spent many happy years boating on Lake Simcoe in Ontario Canada. Summer days were spent on sand bars with his family, a cold beer, and The Beach Boys playing in the background. After moving to Florida in 1993, adventures soon transitioned to the RV life and the sounds of Jimmy Buffet to keep Gord and Diane company during their travels across the United States and Ontario. Many treasured memories were created on the emerald waters of Lake Keowee in South Carolina, where they lived for 5 years, and camped for many more.
Gord was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Etta Hodgson, as well as his brother, Douglas Hodgson.
Gord is survived by his wife, Diane Hodgson, his daughters Tracy Hodgson, and Tammy Hodgson (Jimey Moad), Grandchildren Madeline and Parker, Allison, Stephanie, and Cooper, his sister Kerry Schlenker, and brother Norman Hodgson. In lieu of flowers or donations, Gord would request that you please vote against Donald Trump in the upcoming election.
